Illini Club Member Candidate For Appellate Judge
Judge Michael J. Powers, 1984 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a member of the Illini Club of Will County, is the Republican nominee for an open seat on the Third District Appellate Court
A former litigator and prosecutor, Judge Michael J. Powers has served as Associate Judge in Will County since 2004.
Judge Powers is running for the seat currently held by retiring Justice Kent Slater (R). The Third Appellate Court consists of 21 counties, stretching from Will, Kankakee and Iroquois counties on the eastern border of Illinois, along the I-80 corridor to the counties of Rock Island, Mercer, Henderson and Hancock on the western border. The Court currently consists of four Democrats and three Republicans. The seat of the Third Appellate District is in Ottawa, located in LaSalle County.

Although not a political organization (and therefore not officially endorsing any candidates) The Illini Club of Will County supports and wishes to further the great accomplishments of all fellow Illini and wishes Judge Powers good luck in the General Election this Fall. For the politically inclined, Judge Powers would no doubt appreciate the support of his fellow Illini this Fall. The Third District, made up of 21 counties, is a lot of ground to cover.
